Life is tough as a puppy...

When we are at work or away, Max has to live in his crate. His crate is a central part of housetraining and we are trying to make it as comfortable and homely as possible since he spends quite a bit of time in there and he will not dirty it with doodies. The last part is key. Dogs will not dirty their den... their den is basically his little home within our home. It is his sanctuary. It is not intended as a cage and we never put him in his den as punishment. When we do have to punish him, we just put him outside. This type of punishment is somewhat effective since he generally likes being inside a lot more than outside. Not sure why. How does Max like living in his "den" you might ask? Well take a look...

Is he not the cutest looking jailbird you have ever seen? I really like how he pokes his nose through the bars. Often, after playing or walking around, Max gets really tired and it is obvious how he likes to sit or lay down a lot... but like all little kiddies, he doesn't like letting tiredness get in the way of playing. We know it is his naptime so we put him in there anyways without regard to his whining and nose sticking out between the bars. We know he'll fall asleep soon enough...

He was so tired, he fell asleep in the middle of whining! Haha!!
